Subjects Taught
2nd Grade

Welcome to second grade at W.L. Swain Elementary School! My name is Shana Cagle. I look forward to a great year learning and growing with your child. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Georgia in 2014. I have a SRT-4 certification and am professionaly qualified to teach your child. This is my fourth year teaching in Gordon County.

Being your child's teacher is a great privilege for me. This year I will strive to create a classroom community where your child will feel safe and nurtured while growing academically. I want your child to be excited about being at school each and every day. Please feel free to contact me about any concerns you may have about your child's education. You may contact me by email at or call me at school at 706-629-0141. If you would like to meet with me to discuss you child's progress, please schedule a conference. I am available Monday morning from 7:45-8:35, Thursday after 3:30 (after Reading Bowl Practice) and Friday from 7:45-8:35, and Monday-Wednesday and Friday afternoons 2:45-5pm. I am available later in the afternoons upon request. Feel free to send me Class Dojo messages anytime, I will respond as soon as I read them.

As well as teaching, I also serve as a team coach for W.L. Swain's Reading Bowl team. This is our fourth year competing and we are hopeful to place 1st and go to the state level competition. We meet every Thursday after school. Students are eligible to participate from 3rd-5th grade. Only our 4th-5th graders may compete. (We start scouting readers early on in 2nd grade. I look forward to being able to offer my student's names for a position on the team!)

Thank you for your support while we work together to help your child be all they can be.
