I would like to welcome you and your child to W.L. Swain Elementary School!  I am the PreK-5 Severe/Profound ESS teacher.  I am very excited about working with your child and look forward to getting to know all of you this year!  My goal, for this year, is to instill a love of school in all of the children, in hopes of making their year a happy growing experience. Your child will grow both educationally and socially this year, and I think it will be fun for all of us!

I am a graduate of Dalton State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.  I obtained additional certification in both General and Adapted Special Education as well as ESOL. I am currently working on my Masters of Special Education through Georgia Southern. I have an SRT-4 certificate and am highly qualified to teach your child.  This will be my fourth year in the classroom.

I am very fortunate to have a capable paraprofessional working with me again this year. Lauren Norris earned her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and has worked several years in a day care setting. She will be an asset to this classroom.

Joining us this year Elsa Valladares.  She has worked as a paraprofessional for six years at Bren Mar Park Elementary School in an ESS classroom setting. She is a certified Paraprofessional and has 120 hours of Early Childhood Education Development courses. She is a vital part of the student’s day at school.

If you have a question or concern and need to contact me, please feel free to email me at ahobby@gcbe.org or call the school at 706-629-0141. I will contact you at the end of the day.

I look forward to a great year! Thank you for sharing your child with me!
